Brooke is originally from Southlake, Texas and trained as a competitive gymnast for 13 years under the direction of Olympic medalist Kim Zmeskal. She attended Brigham Young University on an academic scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude with dual degrees in Athletic Training and Exercise Science. She also holds several professional certifications including:
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
- NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
- Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist (MAT Specialist)
- Precision Nutrition Certification (Pn1)
Brooke spent two years in college working side-by-side with the BYU athletes. She spent a semester with the football team, gymnastics team, men’s lacrosse team, and competitive dance teams.
Brooke coached gymnastics for three years in Springville, Utah, where she also worked as athletic trainer for all of the competitive teams for a year after graduation. She moved to Star Valley, Wyoming with her husband John in 2017 and there started her own fitness business and continued coaching gymnastics. She has used her knowledge and experience to help many people and is excited to bring her services to Salt Lake City.
Why Exercise & Nutrition?
Athletics was a major part of Brooke’s life growing up, and a regular exercise routine remained a priority even after moving on from gymnastics. The more she learned in school about the human body, the more passionate she became about exercise, nutrition, and health.
Brooke is a firm believer that exercise has more health benefits than almost anything else out there, when done in the right way. There’s a type of exercise out there for everyone, the key is finding what’s right for you and what you truly enjoy. Fitness should be fun! One of her goals for her exercise clients is to create a fitness routine they LOVE and look forward to, while giving them a great workout customized to their specific needs and goals as much as possible.
A key aspect of exercise and performance is a properly functioning musculoskeletal system. In other words – your muscles, bones, and joints are all working together correctly. This is one of the reasons Brooke chose to become an MAT Specialist. MAT focuses on the assessment and correction of muscular imbalances, joint instability, and limitations in range of motion. Exercise is only part of the equation to a healthy lifestyle. Proper nutrition is vital to keep your body operating at optimal levels and to help you reach your fitness goals.
